Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins announced on June 14th that she has secured an additional $6.1 million to help stabilize the bluffs in Del Mar that experienced unprecedented erosion this past winter. This money will be added to the $3 million already budgeted by SANDAG to install additional soldier piles to stabilize the railroad roadbed. Work is expected to begin this fall.
An additional $1.5 million will go to research on beach erosion and bluff destabilization.
