Three residents were recently appointed to the Del Mar Design Review Board: Al Corti, David Mighdoll and Sam Borgese. Serving on the Board is perhaps one of the most significant responsibilities in the City. Board members are challenged to insure that development proposals correspond to the quality of life defined in the Del Mar Community Plan, meet criteria for evaluating development applications and are in conformity with the City’s numerous codes and ordinances. Their agenda is indeed a weighty one!

Each of them submitted a “Citizen Interest Form” which offers a broad personal profile and indication of their qualifications. Of note, each is engaged in a successful career at the executive level in varying professions.

Al Corti has been active in the shopping center development and management industry for more than 30 years. He was instrumental in the successful development of nationally renowned projects such as the Horton Plaza and Fashion Valley in San Diego. He is presently serving on Del Mar’s Ad-hoc Form Based Code Committee.
David Mighdoll holds a B.S. and M.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanical Engineering. His professional experience highlights 44 years of engineering experience, in the private and public sectors. His positions encompassed the creation of strategic vision strategies, the management of advanced technology, sales management, marketing and the creation of value-added business programs.

Sam Borgese has been classified as a “restaurant veteran” due to his extensive experience in the restaurant industry. He was recently appointed Executive Chairman of the Board of El Polo Loco and is expected to assist in the revitalization of its 412 restaurant chain.
